About
At Soaring Supersaurus, we’re finding creative ways to develop a second life for traditionally hard-to-recycle plastics at an accessible community level.
Our mission is to unite individuals and local businesses in Upper Rhondda Cynon Taf around the issue of plastic pollution.
We inspire people to take action themselves through our donation scheme where anyone can drop off end-of-life plastics to be recycled into new and unique products. And our recycling workshops help engage and share knowledge with communities.
Through our inclusive art workshops, we inspire participants to redefine their perspective on plastic waste and its potential uses. Art can connect us through creativity without barriers and evolve our way of thinking and how we view the world.
Our valued partnerships with local businesses provide an opportunity to see their plastic waste transformed into new useful things whilst diverting plastic from landfill.
Aspirations
It’s not just about plastic!
We want to see if we can create a company that works in a different way, striving for inclusive practice that goes beyond the required, learning from existing best practices and challenging the way things are normally done.
We have a base in Penrhys at the former Buffs social club and over the next few years we will develop this site into a centre for arts, sustainability, research and most importantly, community.
Our Origins
Soaring Supersaurus started life as a circus-theatre company known as Flying Diplodocus in 2014, we aimed to create work around societal issues and research how we can choreograph circus relevant to issues and individuals.
Over time we realised that this was not enough and expanded what we were asking ourselves to do.
Soaring Supersaurus is the development of this notion. An arts and sustainability company, based in a community where we recycle plastic for both environmental and financial stability, from this we can work in our community using profits to provide arts and sustainability activities, while also making work that speaks of societal need.
Get Involved
We are keen to engage with individuals in the area and link with groups, charities and businesses to start conversations around how we work together to make recycling more accessible at a community level.
We're continually making connections and receiving plastic waste donations from individuals and businesses. We're currently asking for pink plastic bottles and pink bottle tops for a special project.
